Sunrise from An Teallach, June 2018.
 
‘An Teallach Sunrise’ was taken at the beginning of June. There were a few weeks of really hot weather and cloudless skies. On this particular weekend I noticed the unusual weather forecasts – full cloud cover for the villages and a very clear mountain forecast and I was puzzled how it could be so vastly different. I thought there could be a chance of a cloud inversion and as An Teallach was a mountain I wanted to climb as it's renowned for its beauty, I decided to plan a trip.
 
Climbing up through the clouds in the afternoon, I was aware of the clouds forming around me and I was worried that the forecast had been incorrect, but eventually, two thirds of the way to the summit, I climbed out of the clouds into glorious sunshine.  As I reached the summit I had an incredible 360° view of the cloud inversion, I’ve never seen anything like it! 
 
I quickly made camp and set up my camera to capture the sunset. It was such a beautiful still evening and the mountains were lit up with the golden light. As I’d also brought a small drone with me I was able to fly that over the peaks and film the sunset from angles that I couldn’t see from my vantage point.
 
When I woke early in the morning the view was even more spectacular as the cloud had risen up and filled the coire below me. In this picture the sun is rising behind me casting the shadow of Bidein a’ Ghlas Thuill, where I camped, on to Sgurr Fiona and Corrag Bhuidhe. The half moon visible in the perfect sky was an unexpected and beautiful feature. I was so fortunate to experience this amazing weather feature and am delighted that I can share it with you.
